David's favorite sites
Updated 8-14-05
Here
are some of the best and most useful sites I've come across in my web travels.
Wheel
bolt pattern reference chart.
This is for me because I can never remember which cars have what pattern.
Changing
rims and tires, check this first.
Comparing rims and wheels when changing size.
Frozen
CPU
A good site with lots of computer related toys.
National
Do Not Call List
This is the sign up page for the national do not call list. It puts you on a
list of people that telemarketers are not allowed to call. If you sign up by
8-1-03, you will stop getting calls by 10-1-03. If you miss the 8-1 deadline,
you have to wait 3 additional months. Sign up, telemarketers suck.
Saab
Site
A site for Saab lovers, I've been getting to like them myself.
Car
Audio Guide Site
This site offers an excellent guide for installing car audio stuff.
IRC
Quotes
This site has saved the best quotes from IRC on it. I can spend hours here.
It is hands down the funniest site I link to.
Asian
english
This site has all the signs and sayings where somebody saved money by hiring
a less than skilled translator.
Connecticut
No Call List
We've all heard of it but many of my friends aren't on it. Why not? Do you
like telemarketing calls? Some of you said you don't know how to sign up for it.
Well, that's no longer an excuse, here is the form. Sign up and have far fewer
telemarketers calling you instantly.
Pandemonium
Pandemonium is a semi-local band that puts on an excellent show. They're very
entertaining and work the crowd very well. We commonly see them at Lily Lake Inn
and Sports Rock USA. Check them out, we're in quite a few of their pictures too.
Beer
based site
This site is all about the beer, a lot of redneck type jokes and funny stuff.
Good quality stuff, but you might be offended if your family tree goes in a
circle.
Buy
Smashed Cars
Here is a site that you can buy and sell smashed cars if you happen to be
unlucky enough to need one or have one.
Very
worthwhile cause
This is the most worthwhile cause I've found in a while. Is it cancer? Saving
unborn gay baby seals? No, it's a crusade to return 1,000,000 AOL cd's to AOL
headquarters. For those of you that know me, I've saved hundreds of those over
the years and now I finally have something to do with them. Basically, it's
totally worth the few bucks to ship them. This is a damn worthy cause.
Participate!
Miss
Universe
This is the official site of the Miss Universe contest. The women in here are
quite amazing. It's a very high quality site and although there are many sites
with pretty girls, this one is above and beyond any of those could hope to be.
All about the alcohol
This is the best site on alcohol that I've been able to find. It has the
top drinks, how to make every drink, and lots of cool info. We all know we're
just going to drink beer anyways but check it out, it's entertaining.
Bullshit
Generator
This is the
site Corporate officers use when making presentations to their technologically
challenged bosses.
Companies
that just didn't make it
This site keeps track of dot coms and other startups that are not doing well or
are out of business. This guy has a good sense of humor and if you're in to tech
stuff or stocks this site will interest you. It's appropriately named
fuckedcompany.com
The
best email address out there.
This site is selling email addresses for $20 a year. Your mail address
will be "name"@hell.com, how cool is that?
Weather
map of CT
Here is a current map of the states weather, pretty useful when planning a
drive or heading home from work.
Online
free antivirus scanning
This site allows you to have you hard drive scanned while online without buying
and installing a virus scanner. It's free (although they want you to buy a
scanner from them) and as far as I can tell there is no limit to how many times
I can use it. Don't try this with 56K.
BMW's
in action
This site has 5 movies all picturing BMW vehicles in action. These are
professionally made and look really good. It'll make you want a BMW right now. I
just watched them all and I want one right now. They mostly involve violence and
firearms which is always a good thing. You are asked for your name and email but
you can put in anything to get in there. Just a word of warning, these BMW's get
smashed up, shot up, and bled on. It's very sad to see. Oh yeah, some of the
people die too.
Another site on wheels and tires, good stuff to know.
Find
used carparts by mail order
This site claims a 4000+ membership of salvage yards all across america.
You can send in a request for a part you need and this site will disperse your
request to many of them. If a salvage yard has the part you need, they will
contact you and you can call up, pay by credit card and have the part shipped to
your door. They will also be more competitve price wise because they know others
are also replying to you. Excellent site that will save you tons of time
searching junk yards for car parts. (For those of us unable to afford nice new
shiny cars)
Use
anonymous email addresses
This site offers anonymous email addresses. As many as you want and it appears
to be free. Why would you do this? SPAM! You are allowed to have as many
addresses as you'd like, and you can give one out to each company you email
with. Each of the anonymous mail addresses will forward to a "real"
mailbox that you give them. Then you will be able to tell what companies sold
your address and do what you want with that info. If they happen to breach their
privacy policy, I would post it in every chat room I could and hope they see it.
Spam sucks!
The
Hero Machine
This site lets you create heros, it's a total time killer. After designing your
hero you can get it printed on stuff if you want. The engine is good and
something about the site just keeps you making a few people. It's cool. Check it
out.
